OLGILAI WATERFALLS

Olgilai waterfall, waterfall found approximately 7km north of Arusha city Centre, in Arusha Region. The waterfall is found at the foothills of the Tanzania’s 2nd highest strato-volcanic Mountain, Mt. Meru. This waterfall was discovered and operated by local government in 1973. Being the famous nearest waterfall to Arusha town clients do book and visit this destination at a relatively friendly cost. The name of the waterfall itself originated from the name of the village in which it’s found but formerly it was known as KIDING’A waterfall, the name KIDING’A came from a certain old man who used to live within the village. Mount Meru is the chief source of the waterfall, the waterfall has the following dimensions 60m diameter, about 100m fall (top-bottom), 100-110m circumference and its level do increase or decrease with season, depending on precipitation and montane springs. It takes 20-30 minutes’ drive to the waterfall and 2 hours on foot, it’s an evergreen destination nested in between rocks, making it one of the best places for your day trip to cool and relax your soul. The water around this point is extremely cold but one can swim and enjoy.
