OVERVIEW
(Nyerere National Park) is actually Africa’s largest stand-alone national park, the park is situated in south-eastern Tanzania. It’s approximately 235km from Dar es Salaam the largest Tanzania’s commercial city and former capital city to Mtemere gate. This beautiful bewitchingly park was carved out from the great Selous Game Reserve, a huge wilderness area and safari destination in southern Tanzania. This new park was established in 2019 boats of its healthier concentrations and population of wildlife. Southern parks are less frequented by tourists, its animals still act feral and have no close familiarity with human as compared to other national parks especially the northern ones. Large carnivores like lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, wild dogs among others are always seen prowling, stalking and traversing the park, other large animals seen include elephant, giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, hippo just to name a few, may be seen grazing, browsing and wallowing. Here activities are well arranged and planned to suit your interests from boating, game drives, village visiting, walking safaris, hot air balloon safaris, sundowners all in which will leave you highlighted.
Mikumi- the park near Morogoro and Dar es salaam was established in 1964, covering an area 0f 3230sq km making it be the 4th largest park in the country, this “Serengeti like” park is crossed by Tanzania A-7 highway, the park borders Nyerere National Park on the south, the 2 areas forming a unique ecosystem. The park belong to the southern circuit of the wildlife parks of Tanzania and its land is often compared to that of Serengeti, with a healthy population of fauna which have the characteristic of the African savanna. A home to over 350 species of Birds recorded, and a rich concentration of mega herbivores, primates, and cats are encountered, with its terrain, beautiful sites that gives you a once in a lifetime experience.
Bagamoyo- a town founded at the end of 18th century, though it’s an extension of much older (8thc) settlement, KAOLE, it was the capital of German East Africa and was one of the most important trading ports along the east African coast along the west of the great Indian ocean, it is found in PWANI region, Tanzania and lies 75km north of Dar es salaam on the coast of the Indian ocean, across from the Zanzibar island.
Bagamoyo offers a golden opportunity to explore its opulent historical buildings, port, slave routes. It is a hub of history dating back from C.800 CE to current.
It has a lot to offer, visiting the Kaole Ruins, the Mission Building, German Garrison, the Old Church, German Boma, two remnant mosques and the 30 tombs among other places, Bagamoyo will never let you down, enjoy the history of the area later on immerse yourself in the waters of the Indian Ocean to cool off. ITINERARY DETAILS
DAY 1
Upon your arrival at JULIUS KAMBARAGE NYERERE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (JKIA) DAR ES SALAAM or from the hotel at Dar es Salaam you will be met at 07:00am by a member of DASSIE SAFARIS team who will transfer you by road to SERENA MIVUMO RIVER LODGE in Nyerere National Park, with lunch box within. On reaching to your accommodation relax from a strenuous drive, drive into the swimming pool to cool off, with late afternoon boat rides. Enjoy meals and overnight stay at the lodge. What we love about the SERENA MIVUMO RIVER LODGE is that it’s found within the park, its professional staff, reliable service and great wildlife viewing opportunities.
DAY 2
After a warm breakfast at SERENA MIVUMO RIVER LODGE at around 08:00 am, start a full day game drive within Nyerere National Park with lunch at picnic site. Enjoy all of what Nyerere has to offer leaving you with sparkling memories. After lunch do a short game drive, then embark to the lodge. Enjoy meals, dinner and overnight stay at lodge. Early morning walks may be arranged.
DAY 3
After a warm breakfast at lodge at around 07:30am, drive to MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK, VUMA HILLS CAMP with lunch box within. What we love about the lodge is its location, accessibility, professional staffs, reliable and an outstanding quality service with game viewing en-route to CAMP. Enjoy meals, dinner and overnight stay at camp.
DAY 4
After a hearty breakfast at the camp at around 07:30 am, start a full day game drive within the park, with lunch at picnic site. Enjoy all of what Mikumi has to offer. After lunch start a short game drive then embark to camp. Enjoy meals, dinner and overnight stay at camp.
DAY 5
After a warm breakfast at the VUMA HILLS CAMP at around 07:30am, drive to OCEANIC BAY HOTEL & RESORT, BAGAMOYO with lunch box within. What we love about OCEANIC BAY HOTEL & RESORT is set in a beautiful tropical garden, spacious deluxe and executive rooms all air conditioned, rooms either face the sea or swimming pool, and guests can enjoy their meals on their private terrace or balcony and many more. Enjoy meals, dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 6
After a warm breakfast at hotel at around 08:00 am, start a visit to BAGAMOYO. Enjoy all the best of what Bagamoyo has to offer, with lunch box within, after lunch do a short visit then embark to hotel in the late afternoon and relax while enjoying the environment surrounding the hotel.
Enjoy for dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 7
After a warm breakfast at hotel at around 09:00 am start a drive back to Dar es Salaam with soft drinks on board. Drop off to either hotel or transfer to airport for departure.
